This is John Batcher speaking with colleague Josh Roggan who writes global opinions for the Washington Post about the Muslim community, the Arab community, and the Harris campaign. It comes to what happened at the convention. Josh

describes the decision someone made not to permit the Arab and or Muslim community in the Democratic Party to endorse Harris,

to endorse the Vice President, while at the same time speaking out about their passionate despair

over the Gaza situation and at that point the separation alienation struggle began.

Josh measures that the Arab and or Muslim American community

is either reluctant to vote for Harris or will not vote at all. Strange.

Yeah, I mean I think that's the example people point to because here you had, Palestinian

American elected officials, women who are ready to get up on stage at the convention and

endorse Kamala Harris. They were going to support her. They wanted to support her. on the exactly on message with the platform and they kept them off the stage I mean it's a

pretty stunning example of their disrespect and then if you look at the other

side you know former president Trump he's been doing everything he possibly can to develop relationships with local Arab

and Muslim leaders in places like Michigan and it's working and he's meeting with

them over and over again and spending time with them and you know he's got Tiffany Trump's father-in-law,

Masad Ballouse, a Lebanese American businessman,

working these crowds and these communities.

And they feel seen, they feel heard,

they feel respected. And that's a lot more than they're getting from the

Harris campaign and that counts for a lot.
