Oxygen on the Moon.

I speak with colleague Bob Zimmerman of Behind the Black

about an American private company, Sierra Space,

that has manufactured oxygen from the lunar soil, the regolith, which is extremely

toxic, but it also contains a lot of oxygen.

And as Bob makes a very practical point describing how they did it.

The aerospace is just completed tests of a system for extracting oxygen from the lunar soil.

The lunar soil is about 40% made up of oxygen

items in the in molecules.

And this has been known before the J-

I've reported this about a month ago.

The Chinese themselves have tested a

system for doing the exact same thing. I think the Sierra Space test is a little

bit more advanced it completed it did this test where it actually grabbed simulated

lunar soil which is very abrasive and jagged and difficult to work with.

It was able to actually grab simulated soil put it into the system

feed it to 1800 degrees Celsius which is really hot and melt a lot of things and

extract the oxygen from it. And this is important for

future bases on on the moon, John, because they will need oxygen for a lot of

reasons and it's now potentially very easily accessible with processing that can be brought there.

We need oxygen for those moon bases and the moon wars ahead is Bob Zimmerman behind the black. More of this later.
