This is John Batchel, a conversation with good colleague Bob Zimmerman about an important discovery on Mars.

Well, what's been discovered now, scientists looked at five different areas of Mars in the mid-latitudes in both the north and south hemispheres,

and they found that in every case the data says that these glaciers are almost pure water, covered by a thin cover of dust and debris to protect them.

That just means, once again, Mars is not a desert like Sahara.

It's a desert like Antarctica with lots of ice everywhere.

Above 30 degrees latitude, you basically have ice almost everywhere near surface ice,

and the glaciers are now pure water. That's what they say. 30 degrees latitude, you basically have ice almost everywhere near surface ice.
