This is John Bachelor, conversation with colleague Gregory Coppley about the Commonwealth,

the Commonwealth Chiefs meeting in Samoa, led by for the first time King Charles III. The Commonwealth I learned from

Gregory's 2.6 billion people. Not all of it was the British Empire, Gregory is

to explain.

Once upon a time, there were unhappy conversations in the 18th century.

A group of men, you know their names very well.

That is why the United States is not part of the Commonwealth.

A mistaken time may be corrected.

Same for the kingship.

It may be corrected.

King Charles is not a political king. He's a king of Australia's

king of Canada. He's the head of the Commonwealth as King.

In any event, it's interesting to consider

what might have happened in 1783 to 17. Oh, somewhere about the breakdown of order in the 90s, set right by George Washington.

Well the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting is every two years

and it involves the heads of government of all of the Commonwealth countries around the

world and that's basically 2.6 billion people in the Earth's population.

And this is the first time that it's been held in a small island state like Somer,

which only has a population of 220,000 and that was opened. Well, yesterday, our time and the

King was arriving on Wednesday morning Western U.S. time so he's basically there now.
