This is John Batchel, conversation with my colleague Malcolm Honline of the Conference of President's

major American Jewish organizations, that the White House, the Biden White House, is moving to sanction

Israeli citizens for conduct on the West Bank, Judea, Samaria, and parts of East Jerusalem.

The puzzle here is why?

At the same time, members of the U.S. senator moving to sanction the Israeli government

in some fashion to restrict or hold back or eliminate arm sales.

The question is why?

Why now?

Malcolm answers this in detail. Malcolm Holine, conference of presidents, first about the U.S. Senate, then about the U.S. White House and Israel.

More of this later tonight. So this is, I think, a very disturbing trend because it becomes limitless at some points. It's not just about

the three individuals and three companies. And by the way, they designate Sikh Hamas leaders,

but who transferred weapons and funds to Gaza to support terrorism, the same time that they

imposed, and by the way, they made clear that they make no

distinction between the military and political leadership of Hamas.

But at the same time, they are imposing on people that they claim were engaged in or

supportive of people who were engaged in violence in the Judean Samaria,

and including three construction companies because they were operating there and building.

So this is really, I think, a body blow. It's not well received, obviously, in Israel. It's one thing

if somebody is guilty of something to sanction them. But this seems to be ideologically driven,

according to many of the observers. And the Israeli government has expressed disappointment.

But generally there's been silence in the face of the sanctions because they don't really have that broadened application.

I think it's more a propaganda victory and a message to the groups in the West's by painting people, and there are some who may have violated the law.
