This is John Bachelor, conversation with my colleague Peter Berkowitz of the Hoover Institution

just back from 10 days in Israel about his visit with others to Kefar Aza.

A kibbutz that was attacked on October 7th with many, many casualties.

I asked Peter about the rebuilding and the refounding of the kibbutz after losing 62 dead, 19 abducted, five still hostages, hopes for the best.

And Peter describes in careful, very presentation, what was was attacked what the status is now how people

are responding to the opportunity to go back to the kibbutz which is right at the

wire of Gaza right there in the in the fields you can

On Far Aza, it still looks awful.

The initial ring of houses that were at

fact were actually the small houses of young people

young people ages 18 to 26 just out of high school or entering the army or given

their own apartment. They're still blacked and scarred and disarray from the jihadist. But slowly, slowly the kibbutz is a rebuilding just as we were there, which was almost five months to the day of the terrible assault on Israel, members are beginning to trickle back.

The decision to return is especially difficult for parents of young children, but I do know parents of young children who have made the decision

to return to the Kibbutz.
