This is John Batchelor, speaking with Jonathan Schanser of the Foundation for the Defense of democracies

about the Air Strike in Damascus, believed to be launched by the Israeli Air Force. The destruction of the building the Iranian consulate between the

Iranian embassy and the Canadian embassy.

Steel twisted into bow ties, concrete cracked in half, one bomb.

I asked Jonathan, what did this?

To take down a building and no scars or marks on a building on either side and yet steel and concrete

turned into rubbish.

And Jonathan explains.

More of this later about the strike in Damascus, the significance of the death of Zahidi,

We can guess, you know, my colleagues David Adesnick and Mark Montgomery have talked about those 2,000 pound bombs that are often decried by Israel's critics.

And you know, they're described to be these weapons of mass destruction by Israel's critics.

I would beg to differ.

They can be deployed in very precise ways, depending on the angle in which they're dropped or from the height where they're dropped and I believe this is what we're looking at here something that took out the entire building and it imploded upon itself.

But you know, Israel has lots of different tricks up its sleeve, different kinds of munitions.

Many of these, by the way, are American-made munitions and I'll be curious to find out whether

that munition is in fact identified.
