This is John Batchelor, conversation with Mark Clifford colleague, author of a new forthcoming book,

a biography of Jimmy Lye, the jailed and persecuted freedom fighter out of Hong Kong.

What is to be done?

Because Jimmy Lai chose to remain, he's very well to do and he was publishing the Apple

Daily, he chose to remain knowing he'd be persecuted

in order to stand up for freedom of Hong Kong.

Other young people were also detained

and are persecuted on on trial in Hong Kong.

So what can be done?

Mark has a number of recommendations.

Unknown to me was the attempt by the Chinese officials

to soft pedal their brutality by claiming that there's by the Chinese officials

fashion between the San Francisco Bay Area, freedom and liberty and

entrepreneurship.

And the Pearl River Valley, where a lot of Chinese innovation and technology is headquartered.

Mark is very clear about what should be done.
