Conversation with my colleague Judy Dempsey,

the editor-in-chief of Strategic Europe for the

Carnegie Endowment for National Peace. She's in Berlin about the report that

Victor Orbán, the leader of Hungary, has remarked in a London paper that if Trump and when Trump and because Trump

could be president that there will not be a penny given to Ukraine, a provocative remark to say the least.

And Judy responds about Germany's position,

Olav Schulz, the Chancellor of Germany's opinion of Mr. Trump, Mr. Orban, and others.

Orban says, when Trump is president.

To be fair to Germany, after the United States, Germany is the number two financial and political supporter and increasing military

support to Ukraine.

But this is not Schultz's style to criticize Trump.

And what the Europeans are thinking about now is the day after in November,

who will be in the White House, and they are trying to furiously and feverishly

see what kind of finances they can get together to keep Ukraine afloat and

militarily as well. This is the first thing. Secondly, when you speak to the political

establishment here and parliamentary legislators, you get a feeling of course they're worried about Trump about Biden too but

they're particularly worried about Trump but then they say well hang on Trump isn't

the United States Trump doesn't represent all the Republicans and there are Republicans and Democrats,

...
