This is John Batcher, conversation with Professor Peter Stansky of Stanford University about his book on George Orwell, aka Eric Blair, and his understanding of socialism. In this particular detail, what Orwell Eric Blair,

Eton after socialism became commonplace in the post-Second

World War Great Britain.

Here's Professor Stansky to explain.

He made all these predictions, most of which were inaccurate, of what

Britain was would be like after the Second World War.

For instance, he predicted that the public schools such as own school

would cease to exist, which of course is far from true.

And of course there's a great irony

that he seriously considered pulling down

as adopted son for Eden, sending him to Eden.
