This is John Batcher, conversation with Professor Jacob Gugel of the Hoover Institution about Europe First, an article published in foreign policy, emphasizing the U.S.

ties to Europe culturally, politically, geopolitically, in terms of security.

Europe first, very much like the doctrine adapted in Christmas of 1941 by Churchill and Roosevelt when they were faced

with an overwhelming threat both in the Pacific and in the Atlantic.

Europe first. More of this tonight. Thank you. I think so. And even if we say, well, you know, the

ethnic composition of the US is changing, which is true, I think the US as a political

entity is a product

product of European culture and political culture and civilization.

So it's that there are deep roots including in our Constitution and our funding in how our founding fathers presented this.

Deep roots in the European tradition of political development and and the establishment and maintenance of order through law.

So that that civilization cultural connection,

I think has some effect on our strategy, including well it has been seen again over

the past 100 years, namely that we tended to favor Europe in some form of fashion because in part of that cultural connection.

We understood them better.

We had better allies there and we put much more effort into it because to certainly

agree there is a popular support for that that was not there for

investing or committing the same amount of resources and attention to other regions in the world.
