This is John Bachelor, conversation with my colleague Judy Dempsey, the editor-in-chief of Strategic Europe,

currently the endowment. She's in Berlin. She comments here on the results of the European

Union vote so far as we understand it.

Four hundred of the seats remain with the center and the socialists and the routine understanding

of liberalism in the EU.

However, there is a challenge from what are called the far-right parties

in individual countries of the 27 members. And Judy puts that together with a conference going

on in Berlin right now about reconstructing Ukraine when and if the war comes to

a ceasefire or an armistice. And the question is raised about the rising

far-right parties and support for Ukraine. Judy comes to a conclusion, but what we have ahead of us is a lot of thrashing out about

the choices for the European Commission, the review of the money that has been earmarked

for Ukraine, and then the resolution of the war fighting itself

unfinished.

I think this is a very important timely question because as we speak there's an enormous conference taking place in Berlin

2,000 representatives from business investors, investors, banking, reconstruction, civil society, water, energy in here in Berlin deciding on how much funds

will be required to rebuild Ukraine. underline the President of the Commission is very much

committed to Ukraine. Part of the Parliament, the European Parliament will be as well,

but it also depends on the national countries.
