This is John Batcher, a conversation with my colleague Elizabeth Peek, writes a column for the

hill, column for Fox News, about the European Union. One day, recognizing that it is anti-competitive, anti-growth with all of its policies that weigh down

startups and new businesses and old businesses with reporting of statistics in all directions.

And the next day, the European Union moves a tax case against Apple for $13 billion in back taxes,

and against Google, another case looking to other break it up or tax it or stop a

monopoly on or no the regulation language escapes me at the moment Liz looks at that and then looks at how the US government under President Biden is doing about big tech.

It would appear that growth is not the first priority in Brussels or in Washington.

In terms of the Google and Apple, I could be wrong, John.

I don't have it in front of me.

The number that they're asking, I think they're demanding Apple pay

something like $13 billion in back taxes. I mean holy mackerel. You know these

are no longer issues you can ignore. I think for a lot of a lot of Americans we looked at the attacks on American

tech companies by Europeans as sort of envious, you know, envy and wanting to sort of

of halt the big incursions of US tech into Europe, but now it's really gotten pretty serious.

And by the way, I really, you know, also draw everyone's attention to a courtroom right now in the United States

where Google is being prosecuted for unfair competition in the ad business. This is

after they've already been deemed guilty of unfair

competition in search. This attack on big tech in our own country by our own

government is almost unimaginable.
