This is John Matcher speaking with colleague Gregory Coppley, Defense and Foreign Affairs, about the visit by Queen Camilla to her father's unit, served in the Second War, at Dunkirk and Ella Lameen with the Royal Lancers.

She tells stories about how proud he was of the regiment and how he stayed close to it.

Gregory explains, it's a story to history.

At the same time, the Queen is now the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Answers.

Well the royal answers which had several different

components, that's a cavalry unit and they have a long and distinguished history in warfare and the

Queen's father, Major Shand, was active in the 12th lances in the withdrawal through Dunkirk in the early stages of World War II

and he basically was distinguished himself there he won the military cross which is one of the highest awards for gallantry under fire

so he had a particularly strong feeling about the regiment and basically said my troop were wonderful and I know

his troop leader how much I owe these soldiers in other words the the whole rank and file of the regiment.

And so you have this great regimental sense of identity and feeling, which, and the Queen said as a child that she was felt herself as a daughter of the

regiment so she was extremely proud to go back there as its new colonel in

chief more of this later
