This is John Batcheler speaking with my colleague Charles Pellegrino, the author, about the Dark Force Theory.

What is that? Late 20th century.

The Cosmos around us, the solar system, the galaxy, the cosmos,

is a dark forest.

Moving in a dark forest, you hear sounds,

but you don't know what they represent.

Threat, friend, mystery, phenomenon.

That's moving in the Cosmos with a spaceship or a signal that would attract attention like a spaceship.

The theory is that the reason we have not made contact with civilizations comparable to ours, superior to ours, inferior to ours,

after 4 billion years of the formation of this solar system, is that they are not taking risks to attract something that could hurt them.

The Dark Force theory.

What is to be done?

Well there's more risk than just sending a spaceship out at 10% or 1% of the speed of light.
