Hello and welcome to part two of the liberalism debate and I'm very pleased to see that it was quite well received in the comments

0:07.2

So thank you for being so nice and praising our debates and I think we're going to more or less pick up where we left off.

0:14.0

There are a few points that I wanted to sort of expand on that you made that I wanted to

0:19.6

clarifying I suppose and I think there's still a lot to impact.

0:22.3

We could probably turn this into multiple

0:23.8

debates but I'm not going to do that perhaps we can revisit it.

0:27.6

Well yeah I suppose so but it's gonna really ruin my schedule for

0:32.0

contemplations if I'm constantly debating liberalism, but we can return to it.

0:36.8

I'm all for it. But I suppose we may as well go around and just kind of recap what we think just so everyone's on board because it's been a week since we did the last one

0:48.6

and I imagine people need reminding of our general. So who would like to go first?

0:55.4

Okay, I'll go first.

0:56.5

I think liberalism is incomplete and without being anchored

1:00.8

to some other kind of moral framework it tends to curve back on itself like a snake eating

1:07.7

its own tail and destroy everything around it because that's all it knows. I think liberalism largely pretends to be a

1:17.7

negative and neutral doctrine but I think it's a comprehensive, positive doctrine for its commitments to the often

1:27.2

antagonistic goals of autonomy and equality, and so it is vulnerable to charges from Marxist types that would like to expand those

1:35.0

definitions and bring those two concepts to its apotheosis so it can metastasize

1:40.3

into both a social acid on traditions and a gateway to totalitarianism which is what we're seeing now.

1:46.5

And my summary is going to be pretty simple, I'm not a liberal, but I think liberalism gets a little bit of a hard time and I think that a lot of the time a lot of the accusations towards liberalism might be due to other things and although you know it's not my ideal system I think it's one of the

2:07.3

better ones and I'm going to have a very dispassionate defense of it this time.

2:12.5

And what about you, Stelios?

2:14.0

Thank you.
