This is John Batchel, a conversation with my colleague Richard Epstein of the Hoover Institution

about the policies, especially the Inflation Reduction Act of the Biden administration,

the green policies in general having to do with climate change. Richard's not a fan of either,

and here he explains what needs to be done and how the

inflation reduction act, the green policies, the subsidies, all of that has

not gone to what would be more effective, which is gas and oil, pumping gas

and oil. Why does that work? Richard explains it has to do with the Kremlin.

More of this tonight. You have to repeal that statute.

I mean, I've worked on a number of the issues on that.

The stuff that they have on intellectual property is a disaster.

The green subsidy programs that are putting into place is crazy.

I did write a little editorial, which we'll talk about later,

I hope about Gavin Newsom and the way in which

he's trying to get everybody else to pay for California's energy policy, that statute is poison.

The global, the warming issue is one of the most inflated issues that I've ever seen in terms of

the extent. It's really difficult to protect the future, but essentially to engage in a series

of policies that will deal with irresponsibly with their own natural resources and then try to

require government subsidies for an absolutely inferior technology, namely electronic vehicles as

opposed to hybrid, is a mistake. And energy policy has to change.

One has to, again, unleash the spigot

so that Americans could flood foreign markets

with natural gas and with oil.
