This is John Batchel, a conversation with colleague Joseph Sternberg, member of the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal, about Nigel Farage, leading the Reform Party, a few in number in Parliament, but a great number of people excited about Farage as he talks pleasantly about the future. Here, Joe gives us a version of why he's regarded as

welcome in Scotland after many years of being objected to by the Scottish-leaning left Labour Party.

Yeah, it's a major political phenomenon over here and all the more remarkable because

Scotland traditionally tends to be very left-leaning, but it's notable that

while we're having all of these debates about defense spending and taxes that you and I were just

talking about, John, out in the countryside when people are voting, they're increasingly drawn to

a politician like Farage, who is preaching economic growth and restrictions on migration and a breath of fresh air from stale

debate. So the landscape is shifting even if the elite is not right now.
