This is John Batchel, conversation with my colleague, Jonathan Shanzer, the executive director of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, about the siege tactics that the IDF is employing against Hamas or what's left of Hamas in Gaza.

It's an interesting question, and I don't know how much communication is even possible at this point, because the Hamas operatives on the ground are forced to shroud their communication.

They are turning off cell phones for fear of being tracked by the Israelis.

They have encrypted comms.

They have the ability to engage with others outside of the Gaza Strip.

And I'm assuming that's how the messages are going back and forth between Muhammad Sinwar

and Khalil Al-Haya, Mohammed Sinwar being the head of the

military operations in Gaza, Khalil O'Haya being the political figure operating outside of Gaza.

But this is complicated to put it mildly, and I don't know where you get even a modicum of agreement
