This is John Batchelor, a conversation with colleague Charles Burton in Ottawa about the

Carnie cabinet and the Carney intentions, the newly re-established and first time elected, Mr.

Carney of Canada, asking about the policies that were mentioned during the campaign needing

a special attention, growth, housing, and

dealing with the regulation that not in my backyard dominates a lot of conversations about

housing. Charles answers in several parts and it looking positive for Canada. Is Charles Burton much more of this tonight?

And also stimulating housing as a government priority,

particularly with the restrictions coming up of export of lumber to the United States

that will use that lumber to build more housing in Canada.

The other aspect would be to reduce the number

of incoming immigrants because we just can't accommodate the number of people who are coming in

and it's led to critical bottlenecks in housing and provision of social services. But yes, there

will certainly be a much more friendly business environment.

The mood of the country is towards economic growth, increasing productivity,

getting energy to tidewater. So, you know, more east, west and northern pipelines,

as opposed to our current domination of pipelines that go south for liquefied natural gas and crude oil.
