Speaking with Bradley Bowman and Ryan Brobes of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy about the defense budget,

which is shortchanging the demands of the military facing an adversary, multiple adversaries

in Eurasia. Brad and Ryan have a calculation. However, it comes down to shortchanging.

And do the enemy get a vote?

They do indeed.

There's Brad to explain numbers, and the numbers are profound.

Mostly what it means is our adversaries see that we're not as serious as they are

about building up in anticipation of conflict.

If you want peace, prepare for war. We're prepared in

2016 for war. That's the budget, but not in 2026. More of this tonight. Yes, that's when

the fiscal year starts. And for about 13 or 14 of the last 15 fiscal years, John, our Department of Defense, the men and women tasked to keep an essay defending our country, have not started the new fiscal year in October 1st with a new appropriations. Instead, we have what this continuing resolution, which is Beltway speak for copying and pasting the previous year's

budget onto the new year. The problem is that our adversaries are not standing still. The threats are
