This is John Bachelor, conversation with my good colleague Solvina Zito of the Washington Examiner in the Wall Street Journal about Cambria County,

Camry County, Pennsylvania. Johnstown is part of Camberia County. It is the fourth poorest county in the state of Pennsylvania, the Keystone State.

What was it? What is it now? What does it want to be?

All of these questions are important because in this election here,

Cambria County is a contest between the two parties,

between the senator from Pennsylvania, Bob Casey, run for re-election and

Dave McCormick challenging him for the Republicans, but especially for former

President Trump and President Biden,

Cambria County, what is the future?

As Salina identifies it, once upon a time it was built on coal.

Now what?

Well, I mean, I would think Johnstown's struggles go far beyond recovering from the pandemic.

They're still struggling from the recovery of going from a manufacturing base to, I'm not quite sure what their biggest draw is right now.

They do do manufacturing, but it's not the powerful impact that it once was not just with

steel but also coal.

Cambria County was the center of coal in our state in the in the country and that you know that has gone by

disfavor and so you know there is some natural gas there.

There's shale there.

So they are rebuilding with that.
