of the Hoover Institution about Governor Gavin Newsom.

Very popular, elected, reelected, recall vote.

Very attractive man, vigorous, trained to be a politician nationally as well as regionally.

And presentation in a video that was going around Twitter recently, a complete puzzle. a

complete puzzle to me.

Bill's got a column about it in California on your mind.

The setup is strange.

The governor comes to a video cast, a Zoom cast with other mayors. And before the

event begins, he tells a story, apparently out of nowhere about his trip to the target recently where he witnessed shoplifting and he asked the store clerk why don't you stop that person?

And the explanation is the governor.

This makes the governor unhappy because he says it wasn't me.

And Bill then explains how it is that the governor gets into these fixes, maybe on purpose, maybe accidentally,

and they define the governor.

Bill talks about previous incidents.

I was fascinated to see that the governor was unaware of the shoplifting or had not experienced

it before. California is now vulnerable to shoplifting stem

to stern. It featured in San Francisco and Los Angeles but other cities suffer it as

well and it's not just California it's

across the nation however is Bill well and to explain how it is that Gavin Newsom

who is a national figure for the future, for the present, for the Democratic Party,

how the governor deals with these embarrassing moments or odd moments in his career as the leader of California.
