The professor gives us the example of the white Christmas experiment that has been used

many times over many decades.

This is asking undergraduates to listen to sound files and each time they hear Bing Crosby singing

White Christmas, they're to press a button. They're brought in and they put on their

headsets and they listen. Surprising thing is, one-third of them hear it. Two-thirds do not. The twist, there was no white Christmas ever.

It's white noise. What explains this? Why to one third of the people confidently say they heard
