Conversation with my good colleague Captain Jerry Hendrix, United States Navy retired aviator,

about a news item that is disturbing and flabbergasting.

A four-star Admiral retired now who served as Vice Chief of Naval Operations

during his last critical years. Robert Burke is accused by the Justice Department of influence peddling while in uniform

with two individuals who were representing a company that could benefit from the Admiral's attention

goes the allegation.

Jerry here describes his response and the significance of a four star involved in a allegation such as this.

Yeah, generally John there's no more than four stars, four to six four star

admirals in the Navy at any given time. Admiral Burke was one of them, which

means that, you know, he would have probably retired with nearly 90% of his base pay and

not to mention the other benefits that go with it, this is the type of thing that you don't expect or see from people that have had the privilege of serving at that level and have demonstrated the ability to serve at that level.

So again, I remain deeply skeptical and I wait his day in court.
