I want to make just a practical, a little short practical teaching video, okay?

For those who are just kind of getting started in the more self-sufficient life.

Okay, mainly I want to talk about stacking firewood, getting firewood, stacking firewood,

and there's just some tips and tricks, and so I just want to do a short video on that.

What we did was, we got here in like the coldest cold snap of the year.

So we had to scramble to get firewood. So I found a place down the road that sells firewood and I had them bring me a dump truck load,

dump it out there and I'm putting it in here. Now when you go to buy a firewood, when you first start now, if you don't know, you'll

learn the hard way, first thing you want to do is make sure the firewood is cut to the length

of your stove. If you buy a bunch of firewood and you've got a small stove box, firebox in your stove and your

firewood's too long, you're going to start out in a hard way, okay? Make sure the size of your

firebox in your stove, make sure you get firewood is going to fit. Secondly, learn your wood.

Now, what do I mean by that? We just left Wyoming.

Of course, we burnt wood up there and everything was spruce. Everything we got was spruce. I think we burnt 12. We burnt more now, but at least 12 quarter to firewood last year but it was all spruce and the thing about

spruce is it's super easy to start it's it's really easy to get a fire started it burns really hot

and it burns really fast you go to different parts of the country and have different kinds of wood

like back here in k Kentucky, we got lots of

hardwoods. So you're going to have oak, which means you're going to have red oak, which is also

called water oak, and another, two or three other colorful colloquial names for it. Not a favorite for burning. You got white oak,

you got your hickories, you got your elms, you got your locusts. Okay, you've got different kinds
