And we wanted to have her come on to talk about prenuptial agreements. And then we thought, let's have her come on and be interviewed by both me and my fiance Mal,

who sometimes joins us on this show. Because what's scarier than getting married to someone whose mother is a divorce attorney?

Almost nothing, I think. Definitely has scared a few people I've dated, but not Mal.

Mom, why don't you introduce yourself and say how long you've been a divorce attorney for?

Hi, I'm mom, better known as Karen Kariner. I've been an attorney for 42 years. I've been doing divorce probably for about 35 of that.

Okay. Mal's shaking in their boots right now.

And one of your jobs is to interview her on a podcast.

It doesn't sound real. People get very nervous when I say my mom's a divorce attorney.

Mom, what made you want to go into divorce and child custody?

I didn't. Right. I began. Yeah, really. I began a criminal law and worked for a criminal attorney.

I did six months with an internship met an attorney who was a well known criminal attorney in Florida and went to work with him.

He was doing criminal law and when I got sworn in, I had established connections with all of these judges on the benches. So I was inundated with a bunch of cases, special public defender cases, which are cases that you don't get paid for initially.
