by Bruce Feldman just a couple days before the college football season kicks off

with week zero but looking ahead to week one Bruce, one coach will not be on the

sideline, one prominent coach and that is Iowa coach Kirk Ferrence, who our own Scott

Doctorman reported on Wednesday night has been suspended for a game

along with his wide receivers coach for committing a recruiting violation when courting

quarterback Kaid McNamara before the transfer portal opened in 2022.

You know, I would not have guessed that of all the coaches in the big ten that the first one that gets suspended this year would be Kirk Ferrence

He would have been pretty close to the bottom for me. Correct.

And I don't know, we don't know enough details to know

like what, as of this recording,

we don't yet know all the details of what exactly he did that was against the rules or what they did,

but Scott does kind of lay out the timeline later in the story.

Kay McNamara if you remember, starting quarterback on Michigan's 2021, Big Ten Championship team,

plays three games in 2022 for suffering a season ending knee injury, obviously,

JJ McCarthy became the guy that season. So it said that year, J.J. McCarthy became the guy that season.

So it said that year, 2022,

McNamara entered the portal on November 28th,

the date opened, and by November 29th

there was mutual interest between McNamara

and the Hawkeyes as team source
