Let's pray together.

What a love, what a cost, that we might stand forgiven at the cross. So I pray that the tone of this moment would be preserved.

We would know ourselves very close to the blood-soaked cross, that we would feel

the weight of the cost of it, that we would know ourselves now and increasingly so through this message

loved. There is a kind of love that comes to your own that is great beyond the love that the world can imagine or that many Christians will own.

I pray that you would make it plain now in Jesus name. Amen.

Would you turn with me to John Chapter 3?

I'm talking here not this time about the doctrine of justification,

but the doctrine of justification, but the doctrine of regeneration.

Preaching Regeneration or the new birth, undiminished.

So we'll begin with reading the first 10 verses of John 3 which are the

verses that come most quickly to mind when we think about the new birth.

John 3, verse 1.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said

to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.

Jesus answered him, truly, truly I say to you,

unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus said to him,

how can a man be born when he's old?
