Dernpublisher of Defense and Foreign Affairs. We begin with the bricks

expanding, but now we turn to the driver of the bricks expansion

we're told in the news, Xi Jinping, and the People's Republic of China.

It's hit a bad patch of road. The miracle has ended. Right now, the

population is restive. However, the leadership seems to

determine, I follow Gregory's reporting, to return to a

Maoism, a crude Maoism, shutting the borders, shutting the

windows, and crossing arms and being a surveillance state.

Absolute power. Gregory, this is peculiar because it isn't at all

the logical of a growth and progression that was said to be

the Chinese Communist Party itself collectively turning its back on the

personally turning its back on the world, and they are Maoists.

A lot of the Communist Party is not Maoist. There were a lot of them

were anti-Maoist and supporters of Dong Xiaoping, for example, who

opened up China so that the free markets could develop.

Xi Jinping, for some very good reasons, does not trust the marketplace. He

doesn't trust the Chinese population to have money and mobility and ideas.

That is very, very dangerous to the Communist Party, a
