This is CBS, I on the world. I'm John Bresch with Gordon Chang at Gordon G Chang and we welcome

our colleague Charles Burton to first help us with the Canadian frigate in

Havana Harbor during the visit of the Russian flotilla. Charles good for

Canada participating in tracking the Russian flotilla. Is this a big story back home in Canada?

Well I think the idea that at this critical time in international relations that that a

Canadian ship would decide to make what amounts to a friendship visit to Havana Harbor

is not being taken very well,

particularly as they dock right next door to a

Russian ship and particularly as we have reports that there are Cubans fighting

alongside the Russians in the Ukraine war So it's certainly sending out a signal that's hard to

to refry, but you know Canada's affection for Cuba I think is largely oriented to trying to distinguish Canada's foreign policy

from that of the United States but there certainly has been a long-standing

relationship between Canada and Cuba which is frankly pretty odious

considering the nature of the Cuban regime. All right let's go to more puzzles.

She-Jin-Ping claimed. wants China to attack Taiwan.

You have to read this twice to understand how twisting it gets.

She Jin Ping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party,

claimed U.S. that's us, wants China to attack Taiwan.

Charles, does that make any sense to you?

Well, I mean, no, it doesn't make any sense in terms of rational assumption, but I think for Mr.

She, you know, his legitimacy is based on the fact that after being in power for over 10 years, China's economy should be flourishing and China getting ever stronger and achieving the military superiority that China could readily annex Taiwan against the objections of the United States and its allies.

It's becoming apparent that his policies are failing. The economy is not doing well,
