This is CBS, I in the world. I'm John Bachelor. The Moon Race. There is a new moon

race not only large space organizations such as the NASA and the

Russ Cosmos and the Chinese but also private enterprises. First to the

moon, first to set up a colony, first to get to the South Pole and congratulations to the Chinese.

The news is that Changi Six landing on the far side of the moon has now launched its sample return vehicle and it's inbound to

planet Earth. Gordon and I, Gordon Chang, at Gordon G Chang is my colleague

and co-host.

However, you bring to my attention in an article that the Chinese are...

They've skipped some bits, educating their public about the history of the moon race and who and what happened in the

20th century. Good evening to you Rick. Good evening, John. Yes, a June 5 Global Times article, Global Times of course, is one of the more enthusiastic organs of Chinese state media, kind of a

a whisper for the Chinese Communist Party, published a very curious article. party. benefiting mankind and explained the particulars of this achievement, the first to land on the far side of the moon, the second to land on the far side of the moon, the first to return

samples of the moon from the far side, but the article is almost barely concealing its contempt for the United States and

completely ignores the American achievement on the moon.

You know, but China, after Changi 6, will have returned about 4 kilograms of lunar material to the earth.

Whereas in the Apollo program,

the United States returned over 300 kilograms of material to the earth and we've been sharing that material with

governments and educational institutions ever since then. The Chinese are also sharing their much smaller sample with selected organizations and countries.

But the point here is that China is going to the moon with contempt for the United States, which essentially conceals

hostility and Chinese actions to try to control the moon, specifically its plans to deploy a very aggressive satellite constellation around the moon that will
