the Biden people have maintained on China, the tariffs that the Trump people put on China,

and now the tariffs that Trump is talking about imposing should he be successful on election day.

These are extreme measures. However, Alan makes the case, it works and the Chinese are such deceivers that only

something well Alan explains it tariffs. There's lots against it but it works

says Alan Tann, more of this tonight.

Well, as the very respected Wall Street Journal columnist Greg Ip, pointed out about a month ago ago and he's no great fan of tariffs believe me

but he he argued in one of his columns nothing else has worked and if anybody's

out there has got a much better idea I'd love to hear it but I haven't and the problem really is or one of the problems I should say is that these

predatory Chinese trade practices are so wide-ranging

and they're so secretive that only a pretty blunt instrument like the kinds of

tariffs Trumps

talking about will have any chance of any effectiveness,

whatever, and they were very effective

when they were first imposed starting in 2018 and 2019.
