news week in the Hill.

In the news, the semiconductor, so-called chip wars between the United States and its

allies and the People's Republic of China.

Commenting on this is the chief executive of NVIDIA, the world's most valuable semiconductor

company, according to the Financial Times.

The comment from Chief Jensen Wang is that if China can't buy from the United States,

they'll just build it themselves.

So the US has to be careful.

China's very important market for the technology industry.

What drives this provocative remark?

Right now NVIDIA is prescribed from selling to the Chinese market.

And NVIDIA is advancing the idea that China can build its own NVIDIA chips.

I don't know about that, so I'm going to check with Gordon.

Gordon, there is a chip war underway.

The US and its allies are saying to China behave, or we're not going to make it possible

for you to use our best stuff as you sell to the world with your export-only model.

Why hasn't China made its own NVIDIA?
