University students on bikes, authorities block, quote, hidden protest in Zhengzhou.

And I'm looking at what appears to be a movie set, thousands of bicycles coming down a major highway with vehicles going one way and the

bike's coming to the other, in and out of taxis and other vehicles, flowing with lights lit, I guess

those are their iPhones taking photographs of themselves.

These are said to be students, university students.

Where is Zhengzhou, and why am I seeing university students on bicycles at night in traffic?

Good evening. Well, Zhengzhou is the capital of

Hunan province, of populist province of about 95 million. Jungzhou has about 12 million population,

and these bicyclists are bicycling from Zhengzhou to the city of Kaifung, a slightly smaller city of

about 5 million, ostensibly to bicycle five hours

all night and then enjoy a breakfast of the local specialty dumpling soup in Kaifung.

And then they abandon the bicycles.

They're rental bicycles in China people, rent bicycles using QR codes on their phones.
