Summary

The Philadelphia Flyers took a 1-0 lead over the Buffalo Sabres less than two minutes into Tuesday night's contest at the Wells Fargo Center thanks to James van Riemsdyk's eleventh tally of the year. Everything looked as it should, the perfect Get-Right Game coming off three losses in their last four games. Yet, somehow, Buffalo, a team that had either been shutout or held to two goals in six straight, lead 3-1 after 20 minutes. Carter Hart (3 goals against on 8 shots) gave way to Brian Elliott to start the middle frame, and the comeback was on. Kevin Hayes and Claude Giroux scored in the second period to ensure a 4-3 score through 40 minutes, and then Shayne Gostisbehere tied the game on the power play in the third ensuring a point. Sean Couturier should've ended the game with a breakaway in OT, but made up for that attempt by opening the shootout with a goal, followed shortly by a snipe from Nolan Patrick and a pair of saves by Brian Elliott to complete the comeback. Should they ever have been trialing? No. And we cover that. But it's hard to complain too much about a 33-20 shot advantage, and a 72-37 attempt advantage when they come away with the two points. Well, that the gist of it. For the analysis, check out the postgame. And download the Locker Room app. We're going to be using it at least weekly, whether for postgames or other content.
