Summary

Amanda Thebe was so frustrated by her two-year odyssey to find out what was behind her bone-crushing fatigue, vertigo, incontinence, rage, migraines, depression, and other symptoms that were outright derailing her life (spoiler: it was perimenopause), she wrote what would become an Amazon best-selling book, Menopocalypse: How I Learned to Thrive During Menopause and How You Can Too! to help other women avoid the same fate. Now, three years later and “post menopocalyptic,” Amanda is on a mission to help menopausal women have better access to care and a more supportive workplace. We talk all about that and much more this week.

Amanda Thebe has nearly 30 years of experience in the fitness industry and is the author of the Amazon best-selling book, Menopocalypse: How I Learned to Thrive During Menopause and How You Can Too! She is the co-founder and Chief Wellness and Branding Officer at Nyah Health, a complete healthcare solution for menopausal women in Canada. As Canada’s first menopause workplace educator, Amanda provides on-site or virtual educational presentations in the workplace to improve productivity, retention and attendance for female employees through menopause. Amanda has been featured in media outlets like Oprah, Shape, Prevention, Health Line, CBC Radio, Global News Canada, The Doctors, and many more. You can learn more about her and her work at amandathebe.com

I sat down with Amanda Thieb, author of Menopocalypse,

How I Learned to Thrive During Menopause, and You Can Too. This is not my first conversation with

0:48.5

Amanda, of course. I sat down with her in the fall of 2020, shortly after I started this show and she published

that book. I don't think either of us knew at the time how much the menopause space was going to

1:04.4

explode in a very short period of time, but it really has. So I wanted to have her back,

1:12.8

post-menapocalypse, if you will,

1:18.7

and catch up, see how she's doing, and chat about what we've both learned and where we think all this is going. And a little peek behind the curtain here. I had my usual list of orderly

questions in front of me when I pushed record on this conversation.

1:29.3

But Amanda and I have become friends here over the years and we sort of rush out of the gate at 90

1:34.8

miles per hour as friends often do when they start talking about stuff they're passionate about

and the show list kind of went out the window. Yeah. And, you know, one of the things I think that we're

both really passionate about that came through in the beginning, especially this conversation,

is the current messaging around menopause and menopausal hormone therapy or HRT, as it's

called in some places. Back in 2020, we were both on a mission to make sure

2:04.3

that women understood that hormone therapy had been wrongly demonized by the Women's Health

Initiative study and that it was largely safe and underutilized. And something that really
