We're going to talk about Max Christie's interview we did with him. If you missed that episode, go listen to that one on our feed wherever you're listening and watching this. He explained point coop and then he also talked about how defenses are changing on him. I thought this was fascinating. He talked about how defenses are changing from the beginning of the season to then when he shot 46% from three and to now how he has to adjust and I want to talk about that one and so we'll listen to some of his answers and we'll talk about it. And so let's hear this first one. This is Max Christie talking about me asking your question about point Cooper flag because I needed to know. A lot of talk at the beginning of the season from fans and from us too was about Cooper Flag playing point guard. Like that was a big thing people were talking about

Jason kid had some comments about that but like how is point guard assigned when it's not like an

obvious player this is a dumb question but like before the game where they like hey Naji you're

the point guard tonight or is it about who is bringing up the ball in the action who's initiating

the like the offensive set is that like as big of a deal as we've kind of made it out to be where hey C ball in the action? Who's initiating the, like the offensive set?

Coup's the point guard and that's, you know, a specific thing? Yeah, it's not necessarily, it's not really like that. You don't, you know, pregame say, all right, coop tonight, you're the point guard or now as you're the point guard tonight. it's you know it's really positionless basketball that's how the NBA has played these It's, you know, it's really positionless basketball. That's how the NBA

has played these days. And typically, you know, like you said, J. Kid, coach kid is obviously

play this game at the highest level and he's one of the greatest point guards ever. And so

you'll see, and, you know, if he wants someone to play point guard that night you will see

ATO is drawn up where he's handling the rock or typically it will just be in the

ATOs at a timeout plays the plays where you know obviously there's a player inbounding the ball

and then that guy then whoever gets the ball and then either comes around a screen or just

has to make a decision

with the ball.

The flow, you know what I'm saying?

It's just kind of the way it works. I can't really explain it. It certainly isn't though before the game, you know, Coup, you're the point guard, and now you're the point guard. It's just, you know, it's just kind of positionless basketball and it kind of just flows that way. And, you know, I know there were a lot of, you know, words and articles.

So he talks about, yeah, it's not really like that. They do kind of have, it is kind of who has a set place. And I think there are, I do think that there are designations of like, all right, this is a point guard or this is a lead guard in the Mavericks minds or the coach's minds and they draw up certain things. But they have entrusted multiple guys now. This was one of their dreams,

right? One of their dreams that they talked about all offseason was they did want this position

of this basketball. They did want something where you had multiple guys that could run multiple
