You know, I can't tell you how often I'm asked this question, especially because I write fiction and people will say, you know, conservatives specifically will say, why should I read a novel? It's not true. And it's like asking the question,

why should you take a walk? Why should you fall in love? Why should you smell a flower? It's like,

that is what life is about. I mean, politics is there to make those things possible. Your life

is not supposed to be about politics. It's not supposed to be about even your work. It's

experience of living. And that experience is enhanced. Not only is it enhanced by beauty, but beauty
