I only got one explanation as to why the bases in baseball are raised in the middle,

causing injuries to Mets pitchers like Kodi Sanga.

A fellow by the name of Mike Arban says,

bags are raised to see the bag.

Umpires are not going to brush bases all the time.

His theory is that because it's pitched in the middle, that the dirt will just slide off the bases.

They don't have to be down there bending.

I don't buy that.

Perhaps.

I don't buy it.

And also not even just the crown or the curvature, but just the elevation of them versus the flatness of home plate.

You don't get as much dirt

probably scraping across the top of it right i suppose like if uh first base was flat like home plate

every time a pitcher threw over and a guy slid back in you dusting the plate off right yeah can't be

doing that so instead we're going to injure kodai sanga yeah well you know Pete's got to make a better
