Welcome to The Lead. I'm Jake Tapper, and we start with breaking news in the national lead.

We're going to take a live look right now at Minneapolis.

We are standing by to hear from the family of one of the 20 victims in yesterday's shooting, 18 wounded, 2 killed.

This family is expected to give a statement after yesterday's

horrific shooting at a nunciation Catholic school where 20 people were shot, most

of them children, including the two children who obviously were killed, tragically

killed, an eight-year-old and a ten-year-old. The identities of the two who were

killed have yet to be released,

but of the 18, some are still in critical condition. Perhaps their unknown identities as of now

could change after this family statement. We're going to bring that to you when it begins.

But first, this. More than anything, the shooter wanted to kill children.

Defenceless children.

The shooter was obsessed with the idea of killing children.

The shooter wanted to watch children suffer.

Those are authorities earlier today describing the pure hatred that the shooter had in yesterday's shooting at the Minneapolis Catholic School.

We also learned today that investigators uncovered 116 rifle rounds from the scene of the crime.

Two children were murdered, as we said, 18 others wounded, most of them children as well.
