Alright everyone welcome on to the last of our position group rankings here as we work up towards the top 10 players in the NBA

Gonna do the point guards usually perhaps the most controversial the most interesting

Maybe the one that I like doing the most frankly and probably the one that's closest to top 10 players in the NBA as well in terms of

The type of analysis because you really need your point guard to score and pass and lead an offense in most cases

And that's what the best ones are going to do well, and I think I think a point on that that's so important and this will factor

Obviously far more into later junctures of the rankings rather than the very tippy top because you're not can be in the very tippy top without it

Is that if a player is point guard size defense point guards and is not particularly good at creating good looks for themselves and or others

Then you're going to need that from somewhere else and while those players are useful and we've seen them be important parts of NBA champions for example on everything else

It does put a lot of strain on everything else because if you if you don't have one of these engines

Then it's very hard to have a really good offense and even honestly like that's the whole 48 minute 40 good minutes ideas that you need

You need somebody like that all the time and so there are point guard size players who play valuable roles

And I think just to kind of set the table a little bit those players generally will be a little further down on my list because you have to accommodate and you can but it is a challenge

So before we actually start here, I want to go through some of the positional averages and

Normally we'd wait until a little bit later to get into the role players

But I think it'll be useful to do it at the start here to get an idea of even these top players where they fall in terms of context

So these are I was a little more subjective on this one. I included a few guys who are still rotation players who played played less than 800 minutes

But I just injured this year but almost all these all these players have played 500 minutes other than Goran Droghetsch

Who's still a clear rotation player and these are guys who either have played over 800 minutes or have our clear rotation point guards for their team

So the average point guard shoots 34% from 3% that's a little bit below the league average and it's not entirely surprising

They are asked to be on the ball more they are taking a higher percentage of the three point shots off the dribble than other positions are

And also generally some of these point guards just aren't great shooters. They're out there for their passing and they're dribbling

And they're scoring and their defense maybe more so than three point shooting. You see a lot of guys who come in
