My name is Podrigotuma and I present poetry on band with unbeing.

When I was training in conflict resolution years ago, I was taught that you should always pay attention to what happens in a conflict mediation in the first second, in the first minute and in the first hour, because so much is on the surface, filled with all kinds of levels of meaning and depth.

What's on the surface is not shallow, what's on the surface is often what is so important. And for season 4, poetry and bound, so many of the poems that were bringing to you are pointing to what can be observed or sensed or experienced.

And these poems are saying the surface things are filled with information and communication about the way that power operates in the world or dignity operates in the world.

And about the ways that joy or sorrow or hope operate in the world too.

There's love poems, there's lament poems, there's poems of great joy, there's poems of spontaneous laughter, there's poems of deep grief, there's poems that pay careful attention to sadness.

All of these are technologies for living a life and these poems bring us into our own lives, the things that are on the surface and the things that are calling for our attention.
