bit later than usual, it is 205 p p.m. as we get started and I thought

I'd start, it's kind of been out, it's kind of been outshined by the domestic news, but I

wanted to talk about Iran and what's going on. They're going to have huge protests all weekend

long. And they've been ongoing and they continue to go as the Ayatollah is chiming in.

So what is what exactly happened?

Well, these demonstrations have actually kind of been going since late December,

mostly in response to a currency crisis.

We'll talk about that in a second. but they have spread and grown in size, fueled by the general anger at Iran's authoritarian Islamic government.

So on Friday last night, the Iranian capital of Tehran and other major cities in Iran were convulsed by a second consecutive night of turmoil despite

an internet blackout. Some cases they set buildings on fire. They chanted slogans against

the Islamic Republic's rule. And now the authorities are threatening to exact tough measures

against protesters.
