they had an election that was yesterday. And these were the Iranian parliamentary elections.

And so far Iran's conservatives are on the brink of a landslide victory in those parliamentary

elections as forecasts show them taking more than

two-thirds of the seats in parliament. Now this is unofficial results. Nothing's been officially announced

yet. I just checked. Now, the reformists, which are the largest grouping in the outgoing parliament,

have been decisively beaten with

prediction showing them taking only 17 seats in their parliament which is 290 members. The conservatives

are on course to take around 200 seats including all 30 seats in the capital of Tehran, which was previously a stronghold

of those reformers.

Now, these conservatives, if you don't know anything about them, and who does, right?

They are claimed to be some kind of diverse group, but many of the senior conservatives are

former supporters of ex-president Makhmud Ahmadinejad.

And this election result, so far from what we're seeing if it holds up, is kind of a rebuff
