Hey, this is Durey and I'm launching a podcast with Quick Media.

I'm a black man living in America which means I've lived a different life the most.

I grew up in a community of recovery.

Both of my parents were addicted to drugs and my father raised us and I say this because

in an early age I saw people put their lives back together and ways that they didn't think

was possible.

And later on I became a teacher to help kids find a way through systems that were failing

them to find what's possible both in their lives and in this world.

And for the past few years I've joined communities in Ferguson and Baltimore in Charleston to

help prove that protests, the act of telling the truth in public even in the face of

aunts and hate can lead to deep change.

I've been in the room and in the streets with some of the most important people in this

country with the organizers, the activists, the artists, the poets, the politicians who are

working to make sustainable change.

Now, there's nothing romantic about this life or the moment we're living in.

But it's a necessary life in the struggle to create real change.

So I'm starting this podcast to invite you inside the conversations about culture, social

justice, and politics in America by exploring the history, language, and people who are shaping

the struggle for progress.

And most importantly, we'll talk about the next steps that each of us can take to make

a difference.
