0:13.2

Football!

0:14.2

It's magical, and week 12 of the NFL season is kicking off in the AFC South as the Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills.

0:23.3

Now, Dougie Davis Mills will be the quarterback for the Houston Texans.

0:26.8

He's out of Stanford.

0:27.8

He's been in the league a long time.

0:29.6

We've been talking about Dougie Davis Mills so long that we actually just call him Dougie

0:34.2

because that's how much we talked about him.

0:36.2

Dougie got a lot of playing time throughout his career in Houston, very experienced guy. We've talked about these backup quarterbacks having experience and at least understanding how to operate in an offense because whenever a backup quarterback gets dropped into a game, it is a nightmare situation. The team is not prepared for you to be the quarterback. You've got no reps with anybody.

0:56.8

And, oh, yeah, you've been sitting for two, two and a half hours.

0:58.0

Now, it's your time.

1:01.3

Now, I'm not saying that's what he's been doing here for the last couple weeks here since C.J.

1:02.4

Stroud got the concussion.

1:04.7

But I'm just saying that is a backup quarterback's life.

1:06.6

So how good you have to be a quarterback.

1:29.3

The backup quarterback position is a big deal. And Dougie has been a guy. I think that whenever they needed him to step up and play some ball, he's been able to play some pretty good ball for the Houston Texans. Now, he's taking on a Buffalo Bill's defense tonight. Now, this Buffalo Bill's defense has certainly been talked about in a big way. Because that big guy on the graphic right there with the white helmet, yeah, he's the MVP, and he just came off a record-breaking weekend.

1:32.6

Yeah, he did something only he has done one other time,

1:36.7

and the autograph in 1954 has done since 1950.

1:39.5

So he is special, that big one there.

1:42.2

Can he win a Super Bowl with the defense that they have?

2:34.3

Well, the defense can't really stop the run that good. Okay, so they can't stop the run, but past defense, very good. Pass defense second, okay? So secondary seems like pretty damn good. Front seven being able to stop the run haven't been able to do it. Now, they say, and if you listen to JJ Watt whenever he was calling the game, he said he talked to McDermott about it, and I actually thought to myself, well, JJ in these production meetings, probably good, like JJ asking real questions. I think everybody in NFL, not that this hasn't happened before, I'm not knocking it, but whenever it comes to the Buffalo Bill's conversation, I assume McDermott has a lot of respect for JJ. So whenever JJ says, like, hey, why is your run defense ass? Which is basically what JJ Watts said to McDermott. He said, well, we thought it was kind of gap stuff that we weren't really at. And then it got down to like the tackling. And then we needed to be better tacklers. So they think they got the gap thing down a little bit. Now, they still have been giving up.
