and was succeeded by Harry Truman,

who was then elected in 48.

But during the term of his presidency,

which he served longer than anyone else,

his body gave into the ravages of polio,

such that he could no longer stand.

But the people couldn't know that.

So lies were told as to the reason he couldn't stand.

But in order to reassure them,

because it wasn't the media age it is today,

you weren't expected to walk up to the lectern

or like Joe Biden fall down,

you know, as you were walking up at the Air Force graduation

or fall down the steps,

you could hide the president from view most of the time.
