The Michael Vary Show is on the air. In the last hour of Congress, when Wesley Hunt and I talked about an impressive young man from Splendora,

northeast of Houston, about, oh, I don't know, an hour or so,

who has been accepted into West Point Military Academy, the Army's Military Academy, and it's pretty big deal.

First kid from that school to ever do so.

And we tracked him down.

The young man's name is Isaac Shoemate.

We spoke to him last week on the show, and we thought we would bring that conversation to you now.

So we came across the story of a young man at Splendora High School in the Splendora Independent School District named Isaac Shumate.

And they're very proud because he's the first kid from the Splendora School District to ever go to West Point.

It's a really, really big deal to get to go to West Point.

It is so much tougher.

We were so excited that Crockett got into UT.

It's so much tougher than that.

The service academies are so hard to get into.

You can't believe how hard it is to get in there.

It's harder than you can ever imagine.

Naval, Air Force, Army.

It's incredible.
