A major decision in the United States Supreme Court today.

In a six-three ruling, in a case involving affirmative action as a basis for admission to universities,

was struck down.

The universities who were using affirmative action were arguing that that is a basis, a legitimate basis, to achieve diversity in their student body.

The argument against was that we don't get to choose our race, so if a white or Asian student applies and has better grades than a minority student,

even though Asians are also a minority, they don't get to count as a minority here because they just do too well in school.

And minority is supposed to mean doesn't do well in school, at least for the sake of universities.

So the ruling six-three, striking that down, is a ruling that you can't engage in this sort of racism.

Rick Walker, the governor of Wisconsin at the time who ran in 16, would have been the first president in quite some time.
